How Do I Get To The Court Of Judge Burke?

You’ll find this courtroom at 525 West Chester Pike, Suites 103 & 105, Havertown, Pennsylvania 19083. Parking is available in a free lot across the street. This building houses courts for two different judges, so read the summons carefully to see who your judge is and which suite your summons will be heard in.

What Is Magisterial Court?

Magisterial District Courts have jurisdiction over a variety of different types of cases, from criminal charges, including felonies, to traffic cases that violate Title 75, The Vehicle Code. Cases from assault and battery to drug charges to simply failing to stop at a stop sign are all heard before a Megesterial judge. There are 30 different court offices throughout the county.

Magisterial courts also hear civil cases, such as landlord-tenant disputes, including evictions or one or the other party seeking the return of property. Small claims cases, which are minor lawsuits seeking judgment up to $12,000 in value, are also heard by these judges.

Your summons will indicate the type of case that you’re involved in.

Do I Need an Attorney For A Court Summons?

Yes! Even if it’s just a small traffic ticket, having legal representation can help you with any charges you might face. For example, a lawyer may be able to have your traffic fine or points on your license reduced. Or, if you’re seeking restitution in small claims, an attorney will help you gather the documentation you need to build a strong case.
