This is NBC 10 News. Services will start tomorrow for Temple University Police Officer Chris Fitzgerald, who was killed in the line of duty on Saturday night. U.S. Marshals arrested the accused gunman, 18-year-old Miles Pfeffer, within 12 hours of the shooting. He’s charged with murder and will appear in court in March. Police say Pfeffer’s mother picked him up Saturday night after the shooting in North Philadelphia and brought him to the family’s home in Bucks County. Officer Fitzgerald’s widow has a message to Pfeffer’s mother: “Your mother, who picked you up, should be charged, and we will make sure that they’re held accountable.” Delaware county criminal defense attorney and legal expert Enrique L1 Latoison from NBC 10 joined the broadcast and explained that Pfeffer’s mother could be charged with accessory after the fact, obstruction of justice, and tampering with evidence. The police investigation is ongoing, and they will continue to look into things like phone calls and text messages to determine if she had any involvement. The broadcast also reported that two teenagers were detained before Pfeffer was arrested, and the police said they could be charged with conspiracy under the law in Pennsylvania. The funeral for Officer Fitzgerald is scheduled for Friday, and NBC 10 will provide continued coverage on their digital channels.
