As a defense attorney, I have seen many trials over the years, but the Alex Murdaugh murder trial was one of the most stunning and captivating cases I have ever witnessed. After weeks of intense testimony and dozens of witnesses, the jury returned a swift verdict: guilty on all counts. As someone who has followed this trial closely, I believe that the jury’s decision sends a clear message about the evidence presented and the credibility of the defense. In this video, I offer my personal insights on the trial and the potential consequences for Murdaugh, including the impact of his own testimony and what the future may hold for him.

Turning now to new developments from the Alex Murdaugh murder trial. After weeks of testimony and dozens of witnesses, it only took a jury 3 hours to reach its verdict. Guilty on all counts. The jury convicted the disgraced South Carolina attorney of murdering his wife and son back in 2021. I spoke with defense attorney Enrique L1 Latoison about the quick verdict. He says it’s clear that the jury did not believe Murdaugh when he took the stand in his own defense and he believes that will hurt him as well when the judge sentenced him tomorrow.

I think when you get on the stand and you tell the jury and basically tell the judge what a criminal you are and how you steal millions of dollars and then the jury comes back and finds you guilty of two counts of murdering your wife and your son, I think he’s probably looking at life in prison. I don’t think the judge is going to think that he’s redeemable at this point.

Friday’s all new episode of Dateline will feature all the twists and turns of the trial. Insiders close to the family speak out for the first time to NBC’s Craig Melvin. You can see it tomorrow night at 09:00 right here on NBC. 10.
