Delaware County Magisterial District Court 32-2-53
Magisterial Courts handle many different kinds of cases. You may be part of a civil case, which can include matters of small claims, also called minor lawsuits, where the damages are less than $12,000. Many times, cases of property rights are heard in these courts, such as boundary disputes or cases where there’s a dispute between a landlord and tenant. A lawyer in these cases can help you organize the paperwork you need to plead your case and give you advice on how to secure documents that a judge will ask you for.
Or, you may have received a traffic violation. These can include:
- DUI or DWI
- Reckless driving
- Driving without a license
- Speeding in excess of 30 miles per hour over the speed limit
- Failure to stop at stop signs/red lights
For people whose driving privileges may be in jeopardy, having a lawyer on your side can be extremely helpful.
Criminal matters, such as preliminary hearings and bail hearings are heard before the Magisterial Court. If you have been given a scheduled court date for a preliminary hearing, now is the best time to get into contact with Latoison Law Firm.
